Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the three-day holiday. This week, we'll have an English-class-style Valentine's Day celebration. Here's what's on the agenda this week:
TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY: Journal warm-up. Collect raft assignments. Argument basics review, arguable claims. Read and act out Huck Finn, Chapter 15.
Due: Read Huckleberry Finn through the end of Chapter 11, and the Huckleberry Finn raft assignment.
Homework: Please read Chapter 16 up to page 92 (up to the line "So I reckoned I wouldn't bother no more about it...")
Have journals ready to turn in next class.
THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Journal warm-up. Vocab quiz covering list #14, grammar, reading. Year 2219 activity. Intro: Gender Unit. Ideal man/woman activity.
Due: Read Huck Finn, Chapter 16 up to page 92 (up to the line "So I reckoned I wouldn't bother no more about it...")
Journals in the class bin by the end of the class period.
Homework: Please read and annotate "Being a Man" and "Many Ways to be a Girl, but One Way to be a Boy...", pages 1-5 in the Gender Unit Packet. What type of evidence and examples is each author using? Do you agree or disagree with their theses and claims? Come to class with your own opinions, ready to discuss.
