February 4 - 8

It's already February! This month, we'll work on the argument style of essay, continue with Huckleberry Finn, and begin a brief unit with essays about the topic of gender. I'm looking forward to many interesting discussions and debates around these topics.

MONDAY/TUESDAY: Scheduling presentation - first 15 minutes of class. Journal warm-up.  Read and act out Huckleberry Finn. Healthy survey for 4th and 6th period classes. Bike Thief video and discussion for 1st and 3rd period classes.

Due: Please read Huckleberry Finn, Chapters 1-3.

Homework: Please read Huckleberry Finn through the end of Chapter 7.


WEDNESDAY: Journal warm-up. Current event day - read and annotate two opposing viewpoints. Discuss and debate, vote. Outline the majority opinion in a synthesis/ACT-style outline response based on the discussion.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Journal warm-up. Vocabulary #13/grammar/reading quiz. Healthy survey for 1st and 3rd period classes. Bike Thief video for 4th and 6th period classes. Read and act out Huckleberry Finn, discuss. Raft assignment check-in.

Due: Please read Huckleberry Finn through the end of Chapter 7.

Homework: Please read Huckleberry Finn through the end of Chapter 11.
