Happy 2017! January 3 - 6

Happy New Year!  We have a short week, a regular week, and then finals and the end of first semester already.  I'm looking forward to a great half-year together!

NOTE: If you've fallen behind or have any missing work, you can turn in work for first semester up through January 13 for partial credit.

TUESDAY: Journal warm-up.  Announcements/schedule.  Enjoy classmates' Huck Finn raft projects.  Review Huckleberry Finn reading.  Review fallacies, (show video sample), and add 3 more.  Begin reading Paper Tigers article.

Due: Complete the Huckleberry Finn Raft Project.  Read Huckleberry Finn, Chapters 12-15, page 63-87.

Homework:  Finish reading Paper Tigers article and be ready to discuss your impressions of the article and whether or not you think that college admission based on diversity is a good idea or not.

THURSDAY: Journal warm-up.  Receive vocab sheet for next week - the last quiz of the semester.  Read this critical response to the Paper Tigers article and discuss your impressions. Receive Study Guide, fill in rhetorical analysis terms section.  Begin reading Chapter 17 in class.

Due: Finish reading Paper Tigers article.

Homework: Read Huckleberry Finn, Chapters 17 and 18, pages 88-105. 

Make sure your Grapes essay is accessible from the Internet for Monday's class. We will have time to revise rough drafts and make them into final versions.
