Welcome to the short, post-Labor Day week. We'll continue with The Grapes of Wrath and rhetorical analysis and also practice the words on Vocabulary list #1.
TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY: Journal warm-up. SOAPS notes and 9/11 speech example. Googlemaps Grapes of Wrath, structure, dialect exercise. Review Chapters 1 and 2, read Chapter 3 in class, then begin Chapter 4.
Due: Please read Chapters 1 and 2 of The Grapes of Wrath.
Homework: Please read Chapters 3 and 4 for Thursday/Friday.
Please study for the quiz covering Vocabulary list #1, grammar, and Grapes of Wrath reading through Chapter 4.
THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Journal warm-up. Quiz covering Vocabulary list #1 and Grapes reading through the end of Chapter 4. Notes: figurative language. Read Chapter 5 in class with activity. Introduction to "Setting the Stage" assignment.
Due: Chapters 3 and 4 of Grapes.
Homework: For next class, please finish Chapter 5 and read Chapter 6, with the "Setting the Stage" assignment in mind.
