February 24 - 28

Welcome! Here's what's on the agenda for this week. Because of Junior Scheduling, A Day and B Day have slightly different schedules until the end of the week.

NOTE: A Day will have its Vocab #14/reading quiz this week on Tuesday, and 6th period won't have a quiz. 

MONDAY (6th period only): Attendance. Junior scheduling.

DuePlease read "The Gig Economy is Coming for Your Job" plus the NY Times Comments Section, page 18-24 of the English 3 The Great Gatsby Expansion Reading Packet.

If you know which job or field you're interested in, how has technology changed it over the last ten years? How do you imagine or how is technology projected to change this profession or field in the next ten years? Be ready to discuss.

Homework: For Friday, please read, "Excerpts from On the Clock" pages 1-9 of the Gatsby Expansion Packet.

TUESDAY (1st and 2nd):  Journal warm-up. Quiz covering Vocab #14, Gatsby reading, Gatsby Extension Reading. Begin Gatsby movie.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Journal warm-up about Gig Economy article. Finish Gatsby movie. Begin next argument outline: defend, challenge, or qualify the statement "The Great Gatsby is relevant to modern times and should be included in the curriculum."

Due: Please read, "Excerpts from On the Clock" pages 1-9 of the Gatsby Expansion Packet.

Homework: 1st and 2nd period: for Monday, please have a good draft of an original outline and bring it back with you for next class. Use the "Universal Outline" format as a guide, and write original reasons and phrases that answer the prompt in each space in the outline.

Prompt: "The Great Gatsby is relevant to modern times and should be included in the curriculum." Please defend, challenge, or qualify the statement in an argument essay OUTLINE.

Hint: the Gatsby reading and the reading so far in the packet will help with this.

6th period: Please read pages 10 - 17 in the Gatsby Extension Pack about Homelessness. We will have a roundtable discussion about the issue on Tuesday.
